mind your matter organizing

passage-making
At its core, this service provides clients with the peace of mind of knowing that all the material aspects of their life have - and will continue to have - value.

This takes many forms: sitting with a grandmother & taking notes as she dictates who should receive each piece in her china cabinet, proactively working with someone to release items prior to an impending move, or helping a grieving family member wrap up a loved one's space after they've passed. Whichever route we take, I always approach their journey with respect, plenty of patience, no judgment, and lots of heart.

When it comes to designating homes for the more precious items this tends to require more consideration, but that is time and effort well-spent. Also, I recognize that it can be a challenge to force oneself to sit and contemplate impermanence! Having a companion to keep us on track, to provide neutral feedback and suggestions, and to do the legwork of labelling, note-taking, and donation planning is sometimes all it takes to make headway in this project, alleviating stress and strain on all involved.

Many of us have valuable items whose future we plan for in our wills. However, those pieces make up only a small percentage of the material of our everyday lives, leaving a bulk of the contents to be sorted by family or friends. This adds an unnecessary strain onto an already poignant situation. I can help alleviate much of this stress by managing the removal of household contents for you or your family. Clients can choose up to three local aid organizations to receive the housewares, or I can make suggestions based on client preferences. I will coordinate sorting, preparation and drop-off of the items at an agreed-upon date to ensure that those items reach their desired home. This way not only the heirlooms get to be of use!

When I say it is my job to help others carry less, I mean that - on many levels.

Some examples of housewares donation recipients include but are not limited to:

values-driven estate gifting
Some benefits of pre-emptive releasing and proactive estate planning:
-
It's a beautiful way to celebrate a life lived fully through the connections created by the objects within it!
-
Allows you to retain agency & steer the releasing process, so the things you specify will get to the people you want to have them.

-
In cases of inheritance, it helps your heirs by decreasing the potential for strife or confusion by clearly documenting your wishes for each item.

-
It eases the process & reduces stress on you and your loved ones as they won't have to sort through decades of life that can be painful reminders of their loss.

-
It allows you to give back to the community in tangible ways, building a quiet legacy of support where it is needed the most.
